ASC Continues to Grow Flex and Rigid-Flex Business

A few years ago, we made a concerted effort to grow our flex and rigid-flex business and capabilities. In fact, we even wrote a free e-book on flex called The Printed Circuit Designer’s Guide To… Flex and Rigid-Flex Fundamentals which has had well over 3000 downloads. We’ve printed copies of this book and have given away hundreds of them. The expansion of our flex capabilities has allowed our flex business to grow exponentially. The timing couldn’t be better since the flex and rigid-flex global market has become the fastest growing PCB market segment, putting us in the right place at the right time.

In this September issue of our monthly newsletter, we once again focus on our flex and rigid-flex capabilities. We have included a very pertinent, and timely article about flex technology which I am sure you will find extremely useful.

We have also highlighted our flex and rigid-flex expert, David Lackey, who is one of the industry’s leading authorities when it comes to that technology. Hands On Client Servicing

What makes ASC unique in this marketplace is our hands-on approach to client servicing and promise of value. Typically, when a client walks in with a preconceived idea or design of the PCB and its functionalities, ASC first analyses it to identify any flaws and gauge its feasibility and manufacturability. In the event of any design flaws or costs issues driven by the materials required to build the circuit board, we not only guide our clients in the right direction but also propose cost-effective alternative solutions that do not compromise on quality and functionality.

Case Study

A customer approached ASC with a 3-layer rigid-flex design. On carefully analyzing it, ASC noticed that they had the flexible layer on the outside of the PCB something that will normally make the board hard to build and can cause massive yield problems, and recommended the client to go with a 4-layer design instead. Even though the customer had their version of the PCB already in production, they chose to hand over the project midway to ASC. The results were more than optimum. ASC reduced their overall cost by 30 percent and was able to quickly custom-build a fully functional, PCB from scratch.
